One of the questions that we always discussed whenever we arrived at a new town was whether or not Sandy could retire there. The winner was doubtless Jefferson City, Missouri. It’s a very small state capital, although when your state capital is Montpelier you really can’t look down on anyone. There is no interstate that runs to Jefferson City, which not even Montpelier can claim. The capital building is quite pretty and houses a very nice museum, which allowed Sandy to get up close and personal with two of hos trip man crushes: Harry Truman and Daniel Boone. The nose on the Boone statue was rubbed smooth and shiney, although we couldn’t decide if this was to insure that you returned like the boar in Florence and the dog on the Charles Bridge in Prague.. I’ve already blogged about the excellent Downtown Diner. Great town.
