If you are ever in Parkersburg, West Virginia – and let’s face it, all roads lead to Parkersburg – definitely visit the Blennerhassett Hotel on 320 Market Street. Sandy, using his years of historical training, discovered the place and we tracked it down. The town itself has clearly seen better days, although the fact that it had two strip clubs and an adult book store led Sandy to believe that there was still hope. The hotel was built in 1889 and is quite beautiful. Very good restaurant (Sandy, naturally enough, had the NY strip steak and I had the chicken Alouette, both of which were first-rate) and quaint bar. A slight upgrade over our facilities at the Red Roof Inn. Today we head out for the Natti.
