Hagerstown Suns

Nothing is more purely American than baseball.  I have argued for years that America has produced exactly two things of genius: jazz and baseball.  Happily, Debi and Ben took me to a Hagerstown Suns game tonight.  The Suns are a low A minor league affiliate of the Washington Nationals.  Since the Vermont Lake Monsters were a short season A affiliate of the Nztionals I actually saw a player tonight, Blake Kelso, who I saw play repeatedly last summer in Burlington.  The Suns lost a thrilling twelve inning game to the Greenville Drive.  A great time, high-lighted by fried picles (more on that later).  Uber prospect Bryce Harper did not start – much to the chagrin of the fans – but pinch-hit later and stayed in the game, finishing 0 for 1 with a walk.  Nice ballpark, but I’ll still take Centennial Field in Burlington.
